On February 9, 2009, the RHS History Committee met with RHS Alumni Association President Jack Thigpen and RHS Freshman Academic Coordinator Catherine Letendre. Mrs. Letendre presented a plan to create and display a collection of memorabilia spanning the life of Ruston High's rich history. Mrs. Letendre, who is a graduate of Byrd High School in Shreveport, was a key player in a similar project at Byrd High. Her plan called for this display to be securely placed in the old school library located on the 3rd floor. The school itself will be able to provide some of the items to be placed on display, but much of the memorabilia provided by the school will be athletics-related. Although athletics is a large part of the school's history, the proposed display will consist of all aspects of the school's history. In order to create a well-rounded display, much of this memorabilia will need to come from the alumni. Anyone who has any such items that they would be willing to have on display should contact Mrs. Letendre as soon as possible. Any items that are donated or loaned should be marked with the name and address of the person making the donation. Any items that are loaned will be returned upon request and will need to be properly identified. Anyone who has any such items that they would be willing to have on display should contact Mrs. Letendre or Randy Moore, RHS Alumni Association History Committee Chairman as soon as possible. Suggestions, ideas or questions pertaining to this project should be directed to: Catherine Letendre Freshman Academic Coordinator (318) 255-0807 Randy Moore Chairman RHS Alumni Association History Committee Jack Thigpen President RHS Alumni Association |
